The Brief

A family home in Woking had a tired galley kitchen that had done its time. The units were pulling off the walls, the worktop was chipped at the edges, and the layout made it hard for more than one person to work in the room. The owners weren't looking to knock through or extend; they wanted a clean, modern kitchen in the same footprint, finished well, and delivered without the house being turned upside down for a month. Budget mattered, but so did the finish. They'd been disappointed by a previous fitter who'd cut corners and didn't want a repeat.

What We Did

Josh visited the property, measured up, and talked through the options. Once the design and spec were agreed, the work was scheduled in. On day one, Josh and his assistant arrived, dust-sheeted the hallway, and got started:

  • Stripped out the old kitchen: Carefully removed the existing base units, wall units, worktop, sink, and tile splashback. All waste bagged up and taken away the same day.
  • Prepared the walls and floor: Filled and skimmed the wall patches where the old units had pulled the plaster, and checked the floor was level before the new units went in.
  • Fitted the new base and wall units: Set out the carcasses to the agreed layout, scribed the end panels to the walls, and fixed everything plumb and square. Soft-close hinges and drawers throughout.
  • Worktops and upstands: Templated, cut, and fitted the new worktop. Joined the runs with a discreet mitre and finished the edges properly.
  • Sink and appliances: Installed the new sink and tap, plumbed the waste, and wired in the hob and oven. Integrated fridge and dishwasher fitted into their housings.
  • Splashback tiling: Tiled the run behind the worktop with the tiles the owners had chosen, grouted, and siliconed the edges.
  • Dressed the finish: Fitted handles, adjusted every door and drawer for an even reveal, touched in paint, and cleaned the room before handover.

The Result

A completely different kitchen in the same footprint. Brighter, cleaner, and properly finished. The owners now have a layout that works for a family, storage they can actually use, and a finish they don't have to apologise for when people visit. The job took just over two weeks from strip-out to final clean-down, and the house was usable throughout the rest of the time.

Job duration: Approximately two weeks on site, planned around the owners' work schedule.
